The View

We decided to go to The View for my wifes birthday, as we had seen a special offer being advertised on Groupon.

First impressions: We arrived at ~20:30 and the place was quite quiet. There were afew people in the "bar" area, but the restaurant area was empty. The decor is very good, and I especially liked the use of Chesterfields in the "bar" area. The restaurant area is very pleasing to the eye, and very spacious.

Food: Normally we do not bother with starters, but we were gently persuaded by the staff that starters may be a good idea as the main courses were cooked from scratch and therefore could take a little time. We ordered some bruschetta and garlic mushrooms, and were given some garlic bread too. All of which was VERY nice. This was washed down with a bottle of house red, a very good house red too (St Paul).

For the main course we had 2 8oz fillet steaks in a creamy peppercorn sauce, all served with sauted potatoes. Once again the food was incredible and my only critiscism was that there were no vegetables or other sides apart from the saute potatoes. That said, we mentioned this to the staff and they seemed VERY receptive to any suggestions we made hence i cannot understand some of the negative comments made by others re the service. Maybe we were lucky!


Visiting The View for the first time, we researched online and found this restaurant on the beech in Hove and what a find! We had dinner last night and loved it! It's great to come across such a friendly and relaxed place, which serves excellent food in a clean, smart and modern restaurant. I highly recommend the pizza (cooked by a fab Italian chef) and the bruschetta (served at another table) looked fantastic! We loved the personal attention and warm welcome from the owner and the individual art on the walls. The prices were great too! We'll be back again and hope this fab place goes from strength to strength - it's great!
