What a great welcome on a freezing February evening. The waiter opened up whilst we were prevaricating outside the restaurant and showed us to a wonderfully warm table for two. The ambience was delightfully and theatrically over the top but the food was exquisite. Ten out of ten for choice, presentation, preparation and service. The only thing I found difficult was the size of the portions which were humungous. I started off with the "assiette de charcuterie" which was large enough for a main course, beautifully presented and very flavoursome. For the plat I had pieces of veal in a wonderful sauce accompanied by creamy and cheesy penne. This again was a work of art and tasted delicious. Then for dessert, despite an eclectic menu, all I could manage was the "trois boules de glace" To accompany the meal I had a demi-carafe de vin rouge which was very acceptable. All in all the whole experience was a joy and I look forward to returning to the 5eme, if it's only to dine at Le refuge de Passe.
